Soldier killed in Maharashtra ordnance factory blast


Nagpur, Nov 26 (IANS): A soldier was killed and at least six others injured in a blast in an ordnance factory near this Maharashtra city, officials said Tuesday.

The incident occurred late Monday evening during a training session at the factory at Kamthi, a Kamthi police station official said.

During training in handling the fuel tank, it suddenly exploded, killing one soldier and injuring his colleagues.

The deceased soldier has been identified as Salim Walekar.

The injured soldiers were admitted to a local hospital.

Police officials are assisting the ordnance factory authorities to ascertain the cause of the blast, the official said.
