Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi confers degrees to GMU graduates

Ajman, Nov 27: His Highness Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, member of the Supreme Council, UAE and Ruler of Ajman conferred the degrees on 92 graduates including 13 students from Master’s Programs of Gulf Medical University during the tenth GMU Convocation that was held on November 25 at Ajman Kempinski Hotel & Resort.

Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi congratulated the graduates for their academic achievement. “This event signifies that each of the students has demonstrated the required intellectual ability and the personal qualities of hard work, perseverance and accomplishment to attain a special mark of recognition”, he said.

The ceremony was graced by H E Sheikh Dr Majid Bin Saeed Al Nuaimi, chairman Ruler’s Court Ajman, Dr Amin Al Amiri – assistant under secretary for Medical Practice & License (CEO), Ministry of Health, Hamad Taryam Al Shamsi -director of Ajman Medical District and B Ahmed Hajee Mohiudeen – chairman, B.A. Group, India, amongst other dignitaries from diplomatic missions and academic institutions from various countries.

Thumbay Moideen, founder president Board of Governors of Gulf Medical University thanked His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, His Highness Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman for their continued support and guidance to the institution. He also thanked the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Higher Education UAE for their constant guidance and encouragement in all academic and training programs provided by the university.

Addressing the students, the president congratulated them on their achievement and said “As you step into your future, you must keep in mind the learning and training that was imparted to you at the university and try to build on such knowledge to attain more professional competency. You must also concentrate on building best reputation, work hard to realize your goals and keep up your good work that enabled you reach this mile stone. Continue to learn as a life learner, and you'll graduate life successfully. He went on to say “I want you to be the best Ambassadors of GMU and make your Alma Matar proud with your continued success.”

Out of a total of 92 graduates who received their graduation certificates from His Highness Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, 32 graduates from the College of Medicine (MBBS), 15 graduates from College of Allied Health Sciences (BPT), 18 from College of Dentistry (DMD) and 14 from College of Pharmacy (Pharm D) apart from 04 graduates from Master of Science in Clinical Pathology (MS CP), 5 graduates from Master of Toxicology (MS Tox) and 04 graduates from Masters in Public Health (MPH) received their graduation certificates during the ceremony.


His Highness Honors Best Outgoing Students:

His Highness Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi also gave away the Best Outgoing Student’s awardsto Dr Zainab Qudsiya from MBBS, Lubna Khalid Memon from BPT, Dr Nimra Imtiazfrom DMD and Ms. Tahira Kokab from Pharm D programs. His Highness also conferred a Lifetime Achievement Award on Yenepoya Abdulla Kunhi, chairman of Yenepoya Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, India. Representatives from Ministries, and affiliated academic institutions were also honored on the occasion.

The grand event was also attended by Dr K  R Shetty and Prof P R Krishnaswamy from India, Prof Raja Bandaranayake  from Australia, Prof Ágoston Szél, from Semmelweis University, Hungary, Prof. Ali Haeiri, Dean- Shaheed Beheshti University-Iran, Dr Pervaiz Iqbal, Sheikh Zayed Hospital Lahore, Pakistan, Prof. Muscat Baron-Clinical Dean, DHA- Dubai, distinguished guests, dignitaries representing various ministries, Government Departments, Embassies, Consul General’s stationed in UAE and abroad, Members of the Board of Governors and the Academic Council, Provost, Deans, other senior university officials, faculty members, students and their family members as well as the members of the media.

The ceremony concluded with the Provost of GMU, Prof Gita Ashok Raj taking the students through the graduation oath.
Currently many GMU graduates are successfully serving far and wide both in UAE and outside the country, especially in USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Germany, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and the neighboring GCC countries.

Gulf Medical University recently celebrated 15th anniversary. To mark the occasion, Highnesses, Excellencies, Management and Academic Leadership of GMU and other dignitaries cut a cake after the ceremony.
