Mangalore: Annual feast celebrated at Kirem church

Mangalore, Nov 30: Confraternity Sunday was celebrated at Our Lady of Remedies Church, Kirem on November 23 as a preparation for the annual feast of the Parish with a high mass and the solemn Eucharistic procession.

Fr Ivan Rodrigues, Paladka was the celebrant and the preacher of the day. He preached on the theme and gave a message for the people to build the Parish as a community that is united with a spirit of service.

After the mass, the Eucharistic procession was held, during which the non Christians lighted the lamps and expressed their devotion and sentiments to the lord.

The vespers was celebrated at our Lady of Remedies Church, Kirem on November 26, on the eve of the annual feast.

The Cherale procession was held from Damaskatte to church, during which even the non catholics participated and honoured mother mary by lighting lamps.There after the word of God ceremony and the adoration to the Blessed Sacrament was held. Fr Clifford Fernandes presided over the ceremony and preached the homily. Number of preists too participated in the ceremony. Fr Paul Pinto, Parish Preist, thanked all the Preist and the faithful. Burning of crackers highlighted the celebration.

The annual feast of our lady of Remedeis Church, Kirem was celebrated on November 26. Fr J B Crasta Parish Priest of Rosario Cathedral and the dean of the episcopal city Varado was the main celebrant.

Preists  from the Varado and other guest preists joined the celebration. Large crowd of people participated in the celebration. Lots of non–catholics came to the church and offered offerings.

Fr Paul Pinto, parish priest thanked all those responsible to make the celebration a grand success. As a tradition three Hindu families were honoured at the end of the mass, with a banana bunch, in memory of their help to Christians during the persecution of Tipu.
