Muscat, Dec 4: With the beginning of the advent season, the Muscat Pangalites gathered to celebrate the spirit of Christmas season  on the November 29 at 8 pm ,at the Grill House Restaurant in Qurum.

The beautifully arranged crib, christmas tree and Christmas stars which  decorated the hall and added to the mood of the festivities.

Santa Caps were distributed to all the people in the gathering.

The programme commenced with a welcome from the president Melwin Menezes. It was followed by a prayer session conducted by Lavina D’sa . Violet D’costa read the prayer, which was followed by a tableaux which depicted the of the birth of Jesus and arrival of the three kings

The play was staged by Rianna Lobo, Steevan Quadros, Canute Machado, Franky Mendonca and Vinod D’costa.

The annual election was then conducted by the senior members Jovin Menezes and Remy Lobo. Shaila Machado was unanimously elected as the new president,she is also the first woman president in the history of Muscat United Pangalites.

 The newly elected committee for the year 2014  comprises of Trence D’souza  as vice president, Lavina D’sa  as secretary, Renita Quadros  as cultural secretary and Prakash D’sa as treasurer.

The children then sung Christmas carols in Konkani and they were followed by the adults.

Liza D’sa, Calida Machado, Rianna Lobo and Viona  entertained the crowd with their dance performances.

Various games were conducted for the gathering by Terry D’souza. Allen Rodrigues who dressed up as  Santa Claus amused all the children with his sweets and dance. Lavina D’sa conducted a session of Tambola.

Sunil D’sa was the compere for the programme and conducted the whole event very proficiently. Wilfred R Pangla, Peter D’souza and Melwin Menezes entertained the crowd with their jokes session. The party ended up with a dance session followed by Mangalorean Baila.
