Mangalore, Dec 13: Members of Mangalore Ladies Circle 82, along with their friends are going around the city carol singing as part of their annual fundraiser.

Since its inception in 2001 MLC 82 strongly believes in service for the betterment of society especially in fields of education, healthcare, environment, to mention a few and all the funds received during this carol singing is used for this.

Chairperson Sharon Pinto said “We have followed this tradition without break from the last 10 years and each year it only gets better. We go caroling around for around three days all dressed in red with glittering santa caps, bright smiles and beautiful voice singing favorite Christmas carols. Our good ol’jollySanta with his bag of sweetsbrings smiles on faces of both the young and old.”
Mangalore Ladies Circle 82 is an affiliate of Ladies Circle International.  It works towards the betterment of the society and is a non-political and non-sectarian organization made up of the wives of members of Round Table.

Some of the projects carried out by MLC 82 are : building of toilet block for the Mallikate government school, donating books, building a library and a playing court at the Mannaguda government school, donation of  a washing machine to Ave Maria Palliative care unit, offering financial assistance to deserving students.

Projects related to health care, nutrition and hygiene are regularly carried out for children at Anganwadi’s. MLC 82 has also contributed to the environment by promoting environmental awareness among children by using paper bags at stores, planting trees and CFL bulbs were provided to Bikarnakatte government school.
