Mangalore, Dec 19:
Capitanio PU College celebrated its ‘College Day’ here recently at the College Hall.

The event began with a prayer song and Sr M Harriet Pinto, principal, welcomed the gathering and thanked everyone for being part of the event.

Guest of honour Praveen Chandra Alva, corporator, Kankanady 'B' ward, addressing the gathering, said, “Giving a speech is not easy. Even I know how it feels listening to others’ speech. No one is perfect in life and to achieve perfection we have to be confident in our field. Everyday, the world gives us a new reason, a new hope to live for. And now, it is time for all of us to give something to this world."

Chief guest V P Lobo, chairman and managing director at T3 Urban Developers Ltd., said, "I am a businessman and my side business is mixing with the students. Since many years I have been guiding the youth by giving seminars all over the country. When kids hear the word ‘education’, they get bored. Education is what makes everyone perfect in life, education is a powerful tool in the world."

He further added, "We still have not got freedom because of illiteracy in our country. So education is very important. In this generation, education is a major thing." Lobo also added that parents should send their kids to school.

Lobo and Alva distributed awards to students who got good marks and also for excellence in extra curricular activities.

"It is heartwarming to see all the parents here to witness the talent of their children. Parents’ role in their kids’ life is crucial and you should not give up on them. They need you when they are in trouble,” said Sr Therese Marie, correspondent, Capitanio Educational Institutions, and thanked everyone for coming.

At the end, Annamma Mathew, staff member, thanked the guests.
