Kundapur, Dec 19: In a shocking incident, a man committed suicide hours after learning that his father, of whom he was very fond, had ended his life. The incident occured under Kundapur police station limits on Thursday December 19.

Krishna Mogaveera (70) and his youngest son Sukesh (29) are the deceased. It is said that Sukesh was suffering from mental illness from some years.

Krishna was hospitalized for some time and had undergone surgery. He went out of the hospital on Wednesday afternoon but did not come home.  A case of missing person was registered in Kundapur police station.

A search was launched but he could not be found near the house. However, his dead body was found at 9 am on Thursday near Kamthiyar Hadi close to Hemmady’s Janatha high school and it was confirmed that he had committed suicide by consuming poison.

The Kundapur police brought the body to Kundapur government hospital and handed over it over to the police after post-mortem.

However, his youngest son Sukesh who was very fond of his father could not bear the pain of losing him, and jumped into a nearby 60-ft deep well soon after conducting the last rites, in full public view.

The locals who saw him commit the act rushed to his rescue, but as the well was too deep it was not possible to save his life. The locals immediately contacted the Kundapur police and the fire personnel who arrived at the spot and lifted the body up.

A pall of gloom has descended over the family on losing two of their own to suicide on the same day. Sukesh was the youngest among Krishna's three sons and a daughter.

A case has been registered in Kundapur police station.

All that we pray each day, is to give us strength to bear the loss of near and dear one's.

While its easy to say Suicide is being cowardly, only the person who committed suicide could tell you what he was going through!
