Mangalore: Damage to Rahul banners - Police arrest two

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (EP)

Mangalore, Dec 20: Bajpe police have arrested two persons for damaging banners showing pictures of Congress leaders Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi.  The banners were hung by Vijayanath Vittal Shetty and were titled ‘Namma Rahul Gandhi’ (Our Rahul Gandhi).

The banners are said to have been damaged on December 7 and 8 at Edapadavu.

The arrested are identified as Appu alias Chetan (28) and Pravin (24), residents of Edapadavu. They were later produced in court.

Gurpur block Congress president Prathviraj R K had lodged a complaint in Bajpe police station in this regard.

While the banners in front of Chellechar school in Edapadavu and Perar were torn, Sonia Gandhi’s picture in the banner in front of Sri Rama Mandira was smeared with dirt.

    No Banners No Problems,
    So Ban Banners,
    Except during election Time.
As far as I know 90% of the banners are installed without any prior permission from the authorities. It should be made compulsory for Banner Printers to print their name and also Permission Number in small letters at the bottom of every banner to know the Origin of the banner. As it is the banners give an ugly look to the place.

P S Shetty Mangalore has rightly suggested that erecting Banners of ALL the Political parties should be BANNED since they create disharmony in the society especially at the village level. When there are no Banners at all then there is no question of damaging them by any mischief mongers.

    Dear PS Shetty,
dont' ask who is Vijayanatha Vittala Shetty. The whole Tulunadu know him very well for his good social work and providing the stage for the new drama artists through his "Tulu codey reality show". he is very unselfish and honest person.
He have the right to put any leader's banners with permission of local administration. either he want to put the banner of DVS or Rahul Gandhi. that is his choice. But nobody have the rights to damage it.
Arrested persons should not get bail and should be punished severely.

Dear Abdul, Vijayvitalnath shetty is a good person. he organized many program in tulunadu. end of the day he is a business man. he is the person who built roofing for Airport terminal in bangalore recently. if you are doing business its common that you need to maintain good relationship with politicians. so he has to join congress as its ruling party and put up these hoardings. and he has the permission to do this. How are these jobless people to tear these hoardings.

Who is this Vijainath Vittal Shetty ?
When Sadananda Gowda was CM this man erected banners all over DK supporting Sadanand Gowda. Now he is erecting banners in favour of Rahul Gandhi. If JDS comes to power tomorrow he may erect banners in Kumarswamy or Revanna's favour. Banners of all the parties erected by unauthorized persons should be restricted by Law.
