Mangalore: Girl lured with promise of new phone, raped for two days

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (EP)

Mangalore, Dec 20: A youth accused of raping a minor girl after luring her with a promise to buy a mobile phone and new clothes was arrested on Friday December 20.

The accused, who had been absconding, is identified as Yatish Poojary (25), a resident of Malligeyangadi in Kateel. He is said to be a car driver at Suzlon, Padubidri. Yatish had acquainted a ninth standard girl studying at a school in Ullal and developed friendship with her over the mobile.

The girl was earlier staying with her parents in a rented house near Mahalingeshwara temple at Kavoor and Yatish’s relatives were staying in their neighborhood. Yatish used to visit his relatives and had taken the mobile number of the girl. He used to call and message her and had persuaded her to come to Suratkal promising her that he would buy her a new mobile phone and clothes.

The girl trusted him and went by bus from State Bank to Suratkal. Yatish took her by his car to Tannir Bavi. After wandering around with the girl, he said that his relatives were staying at Kateel and took her to an empty house at Malligeangadi in Kateel. He is accused of keeping her there and raping her continuously for two days.

Meanwhile, the girl’s family complained to Ullal police station when she went missing and the news had come in the print media. Yatish, who got scared by the developments, brought the girl to Mangalore on December 16 evening and left her, threatening to kill her if she complained.

The girl wept and told her family about the rape, after which a complaint was lodged. A case was registered in Ullal police station. The girl was subjected to medical tests which confirmed the rape. The locals suspect that Yatish might have been involved in similar incidents in the past.

A search led by police inspector Ramesh was on. When his friends Anil and Vasu were questioned in the police station, the police came to know about Yatish’s hideout. He was subsequently arrested and produced in court, which remanded him in judicial custody.

Pls note that its not a rape, how can it be a rape? When girl went with him several places (to enjoy?) has the boy dragged her all along way? As somebody pointed out here boys, men always to blame in these cases. Most of the cases girls shows more enthusiasm and when she come to know everybody aware of the affaires, they (or they forced) switch it to rape .Now a days consensual sex has been twisted so easily to a rape. We need to educate boys or men rather than girls that developing a relationship with a minor girl can bring them trouble, so avoid ,even girls move further. Pls keep all the sms’s and call record of the girls as a proof to avoid more damage to you in case you are victim of such cases

Our schools are very busy with teaching their syllabus and wat all nonsense in the schools, why can't our schools teachers give little bit guidance to un matured poor children (i mean not financially)
so many children specially small girls trapped by these kind of criminal mined people and taken advantage of them,
i believe it is the responsibility of parents aswell as school authorities to teach moral and social awareness to our small children.

When children are growing to teenage it is parents' responsibility to guide them. Good cared children will never go with someone without knowledge of parents.

if the same trend continues half the indian youth should be behind bars just because law says so. the above girl willingly cooperated but switched sides upon parents' indulgence. law nails only boy. i hope court shows some leniency towards boy , the only natural urge to blame. now a days even early teens indulge in such activity and boy , men are sent to jail unfairly.

These animals are getting more bold due to inaction by the authorities. If this continues, the common man will soon take the law in his own hands to protect his mother, sister and daughter. Sorry to say, but then we will see these beasts being uted in public view by the common man. Hope such a day never arrives and our judicial system takes control asap.
