Honnavar: Two killed in tanker-truck collision

Honnavar, Dec 23: An empty gas tanker and a fruit truck collided head-on at Apsarkonda, NH-66, near Manki on Sunday December 22, in which both drivers were killed on the spot.

The gas tanker was returning from Karwar to Mangalore and the fruit-loaded truck was on its way to Sangli, Maharashtra.

The deceased has been identified as Joshi K D (27) from Kerala who was driving the truck and Maruti Madivar (25) from Hangal, driving the gas tanker.

Chetan from Gadag, accompanying the driver in the oil tanker, is seriously injured. After initial treatment in Honnavar Government Hospital, he was shifted to Manipal.

After getting the information, Manki PSI P B Konnur, ASI Beriyappa along with a police team rushed on the spot. A case has been registered in Manki police station.

The bodies were taken to Honnavar Government Hospital for post-mortem.
