Kasargod, Dec 25: Hosadurg police have arrested a thief with the help of YouTube.
The arrested is identified as Kannur Iritty resident Ismail (32).
Ismail had gone to a medical shop at Kanhangad on December 10 and allegedly snatched Rs 8,000 from P K Joy, a Kallar resident. He is said to have committed the theft it when Joy was speaking to the shop owner. Ismail had immediately fled from there.
Joy had told shop owner Praveen that the cash was stolen, and the same was confirmed by CCTV recordings. The recordings were uploaded in YouTube and Facebook.
A jewellery shop worker at Kanangad identified the thief and informed the police. The police who intensified their search found him near a hotel in Kanhangad on Monday, December 23.
