Mangalore, Dec 27: “People rejected the BJP and chose the Congress trusting that there will be an end to all social menaces like moral policing and assault on women. But it goes on even during the rule of the Congress government in the state. When there was an attack on women in the home stay incident, Ramanath Rai, U T Khadar, and Abhayachandra Jain who are ministers now had walked along with us to protest against the ruling BJP government. Today, although there are three ministers from the district, moral policing is still prevailing in the district conducted by Hindu and Muslim fanatic organizations. The Congress has failed to curb moral policing,” said Munir Katipalla, district president of DYFI.

He was addressing a joint protest organized by DYFI, SFI, DSS, and other like-minded organizations near DC's office on Thursday December 26, against instances of moral policing, assault on women, and failure of the district administration to curb such incidents.

“Kidnap and blackmail of medical students in Deralakatte is indeed a blemish on civilized society. What is the district administration and police doing? Today, plans to loot, murder, and decisions on which underworld don should rule the city are discussed in jails. Yesterday, a few Hindu fanatic groups attacked a student in Vamanjoor; a few days ago, a journalist was attacked by Muslim fundamentalists. This clearly shows that the district administration has failed to curtail moral policing and fundamental activities in the district. Ministers should always maintain a distance from criminals and those who support criminal activities. If you (ministers) support them, people will throw you out in the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls,” warned Katipalla.

“Where was the conscience of VHP, Bajrang Dal, and Sangh Parivar when the home stay attack took place? If today Musilm fundamentalist activities are being undertaken by KFD and PFI, it is because of you (right wing groups) as they have learnt it from you. You are the ‘Guru’. We Leftist organizations took up the protest over Sowjanya and fought for justice. Hence, you need not teach us about our duty which we are aware of,” he said.

An effigy of the district administration was burnt. On this occasion, Ananda of DSS, Mahabal T Depelmaru, Imtiaz, Santhosh Bajjal, Dayand Shetty, and Pramila were present.

Ananda of DSS and Imtiaz also spoke on this occasion.

In fact these likely minded Organizations like DYFI, SFI, DSS, and few NGOs’ out there to condemn moral policing and wanted to target BD or Sene only. But unfortunately now they realized that BD or Sene is much better than any other groups who targets innocent girls, chain snatching and cattle thieves, etc, etc…. But what they said is correct, because these three Ministers joined their rally against various issues but now they are hesitant to show their face to public. I wonder why another MLA who said he will change the image of Mangalore region is missing somewhere now…..

And now Police Officers are transferred if they take any strict action against any culprits belongs to a particular community. When BJP rules any State, all culprits and criminals but by mistake including few innocents are jailed but when Congress comes to rule all innocents including few culprits and criminals belongs to particular communities will be freed

No govt. can deploy police behind each and every potential criminal in Mangalore. Earlier the BD and RS were doing moral policing with the complete support of the BJP govt. and now they continue doing the same as they have not been controlled or put behind bars. Now they are doing it just to malign the ruling Congress govt. Nothing else.

    Dear so called Moral Police??
Can you invest your energy in priority sectors of the society??
Can you make use of your energy in pursuing the Government :

To establish Super specialty Medical Facilities at least in every district??
    Affordable Higher Educational facilities.
Sanitation facilities around and deal with people spoiling the environment by resorting to unhygienic sanitation??
    For clean governance.
Better Research, infrastructure and employment opportunities for all professionals?? etc etc...
There is advantage in diversifying your energy.... All the best.
Start building today for our next generation....

In our place, there is no police, no security. If there is, it is all corrupt. Nowhere else in the whole of India there is such a thing called moral policing existing. It may be there in Pakistan but nowhere in the civilized world. But our dear Congress elected representatives have got our faces blackened despite all those promises.

We are fed up of this kind of politics. Absolutely BJP and Congress are 2 sides of the same coin. When they come to power the administration is same. I am looking for the day when both these parties get extinct and all these stupid politicians made answerable for their serious lapse of duty. Down with all those vote garnering populist programs. First you make this place a secure one by taking some serious bold measures.

I only hope we will have soon have some alternative to throw these 2 parties out. Forever.

Police should inquire into the protestors gathered under the banner of DYFI.

The majority of them are laborers and unemployed people for payment of Rs.100.00 each.

Arranging people for protest meetings has become an [illegal] business in Mangalore.

Stay on this Topic of Moral Policing......Protesting here won't change the elected ministers and India. It’s genetically corrupt which is beyond repair. It’s better for young generation to migrate to some genuine nation instead living in India and complaining, we can't change people mindset. We can take a horse to water but can't make it drink. My only wish our Honorable CM, decides to take some clear and decisive action rather than arresting and releasing the goondas from jail every month. I stand in solidarity with you DYFI…
