Mangalorean boy Darren Rebello shines in Australia's SACE exams

Media Release

Mangalore, Dec 27: Mangalorean boy Darren Rebello, residing in Australia, has done his hometown proud by coming out with flying colours in the year 12 SACE (South Australian Certificate of Education) results announced recently, scoring an ATAR of 99.75. He has been awarded a state Governor’s commendation, an honour which recognises outstanding achievement in SACE studies.

Darren, son of Melwin and Asha Rebello (Malpe / Kallianpur / Andheri East), did his primary schooling at St Francis of Assisi, Newton, Adelaide, where he excelled every academic year. He joined St Paul’s College at Gilles Plains, Adelaide in year 8 and came out successfully with high academic honours every year.

A hard working boy, he got the College DUX for the year 2013 for his outstanding academic achievement in specialist mathematics, mathematical studies, physics and chemistry. Darren attributes his key success to his persistent and committed efforts and also to his teachers at St Paul’s. He further adds, his parents constant follow-ups and frequent discussions on studies made him stand on his toes to achieve this feat.

It may be recalled, his elder brother Malcolm Rebello too had scored an ATAR of 99.4 just last year in year 12 SACE.

Darren enjoys playing the guitar during his spare time and helps the community through Salvation Army and St Vincent De Paul, on time to time basis, whenever little time is available. Darren believes in helping the community and has opted to take up bachelor of pharmacy at University of South Australia. He is now looking forward to start his Univerity studies and achieve higher accolades in life.
