Mangalore, Dec 30: "Recently there was a gruesome incident of kidnapping and blackmail of medical students, but no intellectuals or Congress ministers came out to protest, instead they have remained silent and not talked about the barbaric incident," said Shrikar Prabhu of BJP.

He was addressing a protest organized by Mangalore South BJP unit near DC's office on Monday December 30, over the recent kidnapping case wherein two students were forced to have sex and blackmailed at Deralakatte.

"The government has failed to curtail the communal and fundamentalist activities taking place in our district. The present Congress government is ready to invoke Goonda Act against Hindu organization youths who work towards protecting the culture of this country.

"When there were incidents like pub attack and homestay attack several intellectual forums from all over rushed to the district and termed them as acts of moral policing and attack on women, but today when a woman has been treated in such a barbaric way no forum wants to raise voice against the communal outfit that committed this offence. The Congress government too has does not want to invoke Goonda Act against the accused," he said.

"Pub and homestay attacks took place because Hindu culture was attacked. Both the pub and the Padil homestay were illegal as they did not have permission," he added.

“In Deralakatte this fundamentalist group kidnapped two students, threatened and forced them to have sex and also blackmailed them for money. This was so gruesome and pathetic that it shocked the entire civilized society. This also shows that the group has the backing of a few ministers who are under the illusion that they won because of minority votes.

"This fundamentalist group also attacked policemen. Our home minster says that he will establish special courts for minorities. The government is dividing the society in the name of Shaadi Bhagya, dividing school children in the name of AHINDA tour and so on," he added.

He futher added, "M N Reddy, a senior police official wrote to all police officers to invoke Goonda Act and open rowdysheets on Bajrang Dal and HJV activists. Those accused in the Deralakatte incident were also involved in several other crimes before. Why is neither the government nor our ministers talking about invoking Goonda Act against them? When fanatics and criminals like Yasin Bhatkal, Rashid Malbari and Madooru Isubu were arrested this Congress never spoke of imposing the Anti-Terrorist Act, Goonda Act, or opening rowdysheet on them. Congress is following the divide and rule policy."

MLC Monappa Bhandary said, “After the Delhi gangrape, this crime (Deralakatte kidnapping) is also one of the most gruesome and barbaric crimes in the country. Our home minister and chief minister should visit the coastal area and study the problems here. Our district incharge minister should brief us on what is moral policing. If you treat us in this manner you will not continue in power. People will see through you.

Ravishankar Mijar, president of Mangalore South BJP also spoke on this occasion.

Former MLA Yogish Bhat, Capt Brijesh, Sandesh Katyani of BJP Mahila Morcha and several others were present.

Feels sad to read comments from so called educated people.... Most of them are with the communal mind set giving more importance to the religion of the victim n accused.

Anyway whoever supports such crimes might one day become a victim of the same.... I hope u wont see the religion of the accused then.

BJP & Sangha parivaar joker's road show. These people never protested against Home stay attack, Pub attack etc. and they are justifying these attacks. who have given the rights to you to beat other's children in the name of culture?
Regarding recent moral policing by muslim fundamental groups, Govt already instructed to invoke Goonda act on the culprits.
Deralakatte incident is similar to rape case, if convicted they may get a life sentence, then why to invoke goonda act on them.
In the recent incidents police have done a good job and arrested almost all the culprits. Everybody knows who started and taught moral policing to others in DK-Udupi districts. So these Sangh Parivaar goondas have no moral rights to talk against these incidents, as all learned from them only.

Yes this is very much true especially in our Mangalore region few may disagree but they have to accept the fact after seeing the recent past incidents. But surprisingly, instead of condemning these Communal and Fundamentalist Forces, they were busy in conducting press meetings to blame the moral police every time for everything. BD or Sene were also wrong for attacking human beings but they always out there with real causes to point out illegal business activities but these communal goons always do their illegal business yet they blame BD or Sene for everything. Unfortunately those who blamed BD or Sene, most of them supported these Communal Forces whole heartedly

I agree with you, from past 5-6 years Mangalore has become Talibaan & Sangh Parivar outfits have a major contribution in this. Before BJP is coming to power in the State, Mangalore was famous for the peaceful nature of people & Sangh Parivar outfits have a major role in spoiling it.

Its ridiculous that this government is hesitating to book the culprits of Deralakatte incidence under Goonda Act. The BJP Govt. booked the home stay attackers under Goonda act immediately.
Everyone should make out the differences in the moral policing incidents by Hindu groups and the activities being done by Muslim groups now.
    - Attacking a reporter until he loses consciousness then dragging his unconscious body, ripping off his clothes and stamping on him and finally leaving him to die
    - beating up a lorry driver and severing his genitals
    - bashing up students in Falnir on the road

Where all this is heading? Govt. and ministers are openly supporting these hooligans
