Mangalore: No immoral activities in the name of New Year celebration, warn police

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore

Mangalore, Dec 30: Even as revellers in the city get ready for a late night party to welcome the New Year, the police department has warned against indulging in any immoral or illegal activity in the name of celebration.

Police commissioner R Hitendra has ordered that alcohol consumption at the beach, indecent behaviour, vulgarity or nude dances in the name of New Year programmes and gambling will be strictly prohibited.

Urging citizens not to cross limits while celebrating the New Year, the police department has warned that stringent action would be taken against violators of law and those who fail to follow orders.

The police commissioner has issued the following guidelines in view of the celebrations:

- All hotels, restaurants, clubs, resorts, associations and groups celebrating New Year must organize the parties within their premises and wind them up by 12.30 am.

- Smoking and alcohol consumption will be prohibited at bus stops, public parks, playgrounds, railway station and other public places.

-  A task force will be deployed to prevent misbehaviour with women and girls on the pretext of exchanging greetings or celebrating. The task force will keep a keen watch and action will be initiated against those who violate the order.

- Similarly, strict action will be taken against those who drink and drive.

    Dear Mr. hitendra

Your strict law and order not suppose restricted just for one day, rather continued to be 365 days, seriously look into matter to control rowdies, criminals, corrupt constables, reckless heavy drivers, humiliation of by policemen to public and so on..

Good decision by the Police Commissioner. Let people celeberate and enjoy New Year Day at their home only till morning. Why invite troubles going outside and then repent. HAPPY NEW YEAR 2014 to all.

Quite good to note that the police department has taken the right precautions to control the New Year Celebration. If no proper control is imposed, there is much scope for these miscreants to involve in all illegal acts.Hope this new year celebration is good and smooth. All the best.Thanq.

    Hitendra sir,

You have taken a bold and vise step.

Let people enjoy New Year within the limits you have granted to them in the interest of the society.

The people’s quest for enjoyment (Vine & Dance) will go to an unlimited extent once stuff enters the body.

After 12.30 AM, let them enjoy quietly in their homes till the wee hours.

Wishing all my friends a very Happy New Year 2014

    Bhandarkar,

Boss, I am surprised to note that still you make New Year resolutions. (your choice of resolution is true !)

FYI, Police Commissioner New Year's Eve celebrations is to cheer up people by their music and dance. People escalate these celebrations with good music and lavish dinner and of course by lighting bonfires and burning crackers. Whatever be the case people from all classes have fun and joy. Is this your New Year resolutions to maintain law and order, and then please keep your promise to follow it up even when it comes with moral policing in Mangalore? The police's job is to maintain law and order without any time frame….

Hope and wish to see 2014 a happy year for all citizens . Special events are going to take place next year . New government in center with whole body intact... or fractured with support from someone else to stand on its feet.Time will tell. Hope next year will make our politicians to work harder and utilize time to complete projects that are /have been promised a decade or 2 back. When will all promises of this year get results. Cmon politicians instead of attending tomorrow's Late night parties to welcome new year ...give a pledge to stop attending inauguration/Hi Fi weddings of Rich and influential or indulging in dirty politics and the blame game. AAP is surely going to bark and grab your feet next year.

As per our Mangalore based moral police, celebrating new year, talking men & women each other, boys & girls eating ice cream, dancing all are immoral activities and against Indian culture.
But as per them, beating women on the streets and having alcohol is Indian culture.
So no need police protection. Moral police will take care about immoral activities.
