Kasargod: Chaos on highway after KSRTC bus rams into bike

Kasargod, Jan 4: A Karnataka state transport bus collided against a bike at Uppalapete on NH 66 on Friday January 3 causing chaos on the highway for sometime.

The accident occurred when the bus plying from Uppala bus stand to Kasargod collided against a Bullet bike moving towards Mangalore from Kasargod. Eyewitnesses said that the bus dragged the bike for some distance.

The bike rider, Mangalore resident Saurav (23) who got thrown to the road due to the impact was injured and has been admitted to a private hospital at Uppala.

The locals who got angry due to the accident demanded that a police case be registered against the bus driver.  A tense situation prevailed when the people stopped the bus in front of the bus stand and protested for about one-and-a-half hours.

The situation became normal only after Kumble sub-inspector C B Thomas agreed to register a complaint against the bus driver.

Manjeshwar police have registered a case.
