Karkala: Lava Kusha twin field buffalo race inaugurated

Karkal, Jan 5: The eleventh annual twin Lava Kusha buffalo race was inaugurated by Kambala committee president MLA Sunil Kumar on Saturday, January 4 here.

Former MLA H Gopala Bhandary, honorary president of Miyar Kambala committee, M N Rajendra Kumar, president of Navodaya grama vikasa charitable trust and honorary advisor of the Kambala committee, executive committee president Jeevandas Adyantaya, secretary Dayananda Bangera, Vice president Bhaskara S Kotian, Miyar Sri Mahalingeshwara temple chief priest Haridasa Bhat, Professor Gunapala Kadamba, Shama N Shetty, Mahabala Poojary, Ramesh Hegde, M Jayarama Prabhu, Madhava Kamath and others were present.

                  

As per the time table, Miyar buffalo race was scheduled for Janurary 11. However as a fair of the village is scheduled on January 4, during the proposed date of Adve Nandikoor buffalo rice, the race is postponed to January 11.  The Miyar buffalo race was held on January 4, instead of it.
