M'lore: 'Bhangrachi Goddadi' Konkani radio play CD release on Jan 11

The CD of Konkani radio play 'Bhangrachi Goddadi' will be released on Saturday January 11 at 4:30 pm in Bhuvanendra Hall, Canara High School, Dongerkery, said Kudpi Rajanikanth Shenoy, son of the late Kudpi Vasudeva Shenoy, addressing a press meet organized by Konkani Friends here on Tuesday January 7.

A group of Konkani friends settled in different parts of the globe joined together and recorded their voices to come out with the audio CD of  'Bhangrachi Goddadi', a comedy play written by Late Kudpi Vasudeva Shenoy, produced, edited, and directed by Kudpi Rajanikanth Shenoy.
 
Noted actor, playwright, and former president of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy, Kasargodu Chinna will be the chief guest. Basti Vaman Shenoy, Vishwa Konkani Sardar, Dr B Devadasa Pai, registrar of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy, and Kudpi Jagadish Shenoy, president, Women's National Education Society, will be the guests of honour.
 
The late Kudpi Vasudeva Shenoy, popularly known as 'Kudpi' was a great journalist, story writer and playwriter, a legend of his times. He was the editor of 'Prabhata' and founder editor of 'Navabharatha' daily newspaper. He mostly wrote articles, short stories and dramas in Kannada. But, in the late 60s, he came out with two masterpieces in Konkani called 'Dolyan Khelu' and 'Bhangrachi Goddadi'. 'Dolyan Khelu' has already been  recorded into a radio play by Konkani Friends and the CD was released in January 2012.
 
Three eminent Konkans who have acted in Kudpi's dramas will be felicitated posthumously during the occasion, in presence of their family members. They are B V Baliga of 'Panchkadavi' magazine, S R Balgopal of 'Jana Mana' movie fame, and Manel Krishna Nayak, Paul Harris fellow.
 
Bhangrachi Goddadi has 14 scenes with non-stop clean humour which is suited for all age groups and GSB Konkani has been used in dialogues. There are 12 characters in the drama—two female and 10 male. All the actors have done justice to their respective roles.
 
Those who have contributed their voices for the main roles are Dr Ganesh Shenoy Panchmal, Kudpi Rajanikanth Shenoy, Muralidhar Kamath, S Mukund Kamath, Dr Lata Mallya Kini (California, USA), Sujir Manoj Nayak, Ashwin Prabhu M, and B Govindaraj Prabhu. ‘Sutradhar’ roles are performed by Kudpi Rajanikanth Shenoy and Madhukantha Kamath (Singapore).
 
Special sound effects and soothing background music have been added to liven up the scenes. The drama is targeted to entertain mainly home makers and senior citizens but can be enjoyed by all.
 
Dr Panchmal and Mukund Kamath were present at the press conference.
