Kundapur, Jan 7: A youth has been arrested on charges of luring and attempting to sexually assault a nine-year-old girl when she was on her way home from school at Belve here.
The accused, Satish Naik (27) allegedly lured a third standard girl when she was going home after school on Monday January 6.
It is said that Satish took her to his house and allegedly attempted to sexually assault her. But just then Satish's mother came home, and growing frightened, he ran out of the house. His mother took the girl to her house where she narrated the incident to her parents.
The girl's parents then lodged a complaint with the Shankaranayana police, who arrested Satish. He was produced him in court on Tuesday January 7 and sent to judicial custody for 15 days.
