Mumbai, Jan 8: The 109th Race of Ryan Minithon was flagged off at Ryan International School, Yelahanka on January 4. Ryan Minithon was pioneered in the year 1998 which is one of the biggest Minithon for school kids.

The Minithon is organized regularly in the major Indian cities namely Delhi, Gurgaon, Mumbai, Jaipur and many others.  The event saw an overwhelming registration of around 4500 students from 26 numbers of schools across Bangalore.

 The event was conducted in five categories namely Boys & Girls (U- 12) for a distance of 2 kms, Boys (U- 14) and Girls (U- 16) for 3 kms and Boys (U- 16) for 4 Kms. The first race was flagged off at 9:05 am. A cash prize of Rs 30,000 and certificates of achievement were awarded to the first six position holders in each category. The overall championship trophies were awarded to schools which scored the highest number of points namely:

First Place – Ryan International School, Yelahanka With 38 Points
Second Place – Ryan International School, Kundanahalli With 25 Points
Third Place – Delhi Public School, Bangalore North With 23 Points

This event saw many renowned personalities from the field of Sports who presided over the mega event to encourage the budding talents. The guests for the day were Sunderraj J.K (National Referee for Volley Ball & Throw Ball), Chethan S (International Hockey Player), Pastor Prakash John (Gospel Church), Suresh (Reporter, Prajavani), Ramu Patil (Chief Reporter, The New Indian Express), Yeregoud K (Ranji Player), Chaitra Gowda (Times NIE Deputy Manager RMD), Sudhir Subramaniam(National Cricket Player), Pallavi Sharma (National Football Player), Lakshmi Devi T (State Athlete), Jayavandan (Regional Manager, All India Football Federation), Vijay Madaylkar (Karnataka State Cricket Player), Sensei Sunil Kumar (Technical Director & Examiner-India Goju Bhushido Kai Karate Federation) and Pastor Santosh (Preacher in Glorious Hope Ministeries).   

They appreciated the vision of chairman Dr Augustine F Pinto and were thrilled at the level of sportsmanship which was displayed by the young participants from all the schools. They were also hopeful of seeing many youngsters reaching National and International Level of Excellence.
