Kasargod: Lucky escape for driver as lorry catches fire

Kasargod, Jan 10: A lorry laden with dry grass caught fire in Katukukke at Badiadka police station limits.
 
The incident occurred on Wednesday, January 8 at about 6.30 pm when the lorry laden with dry grass was plying from Hassan to Perla.

The grass is said to have come in contact with a live electric cable at Katukukke and caught fire.
 
The incident did not come to the notice of driver, Vaninagar resident Koragappa Maniyani (52) until he stopped the vehicle at Swarga check post. The driver immediately jumped from the vehicle and ran.

Fire brigade personnel and local people extinguished the fire, it is said.
 
The fire from the lorry also spread to the grass and rubber plantations on the way, as per report.
