Mangalore, Jan 15: Sunil Keerthi, grandson of Kunhanna Shetty, and the last scion of Chowta dynasty passed away on Tuesday, January 14.

Besides being a real estate developer, Sunil Keerthi was the founder member of Jains committee in the district, president of Moodbidri DJVV Sangha, trustee of 16 Basadi’s in Moodbidri and founder of Padmavathi Kala Mandira.

He was the authorized agent of Hero vehicles through Tribhuvan Motors in Mangalore and Magrant motors in Moodbidri.  He was also the authorized agent of Sony products in Panchami electronics and partner of Panchami hotels.

His mortal remains were kept at the Chowta palace for public homage.  His last rites were performed at Puthige Kayarmanj palace.

Udayashanker Prabhu, secretary of Samaja Mandira Sabha expressed condolences on the demise of Sunil Keerthi.  Shops in Moodbidri were closed as a mark of respect.
