J P Hegde meets CM in Delhi, urges to form panel on coffee cultivation

New Delhi, Jan 16: A delegation of coffee growers from Karnataka led by Udupi-Chikmagalur MP Jayaprakash Hegde and Dr B L Shankar called on Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and demanded constitution of a high-level panel to discuss and arrive a solution to the issue of cultivation of coffee and agricultural crops in governments lands.

The delegation, comprising Karnataka Coffee Growers Federation B S Jairam, General Secreary U M Thithamallesh, Chikmagalur district Congress president Dr D L Vijay Kumar and senior advocate Lakshmana Gowda, urged the chief minister to form the high level committee under his chairmanship.

The committee must also include ministers of Revenue, Forest and Law along with senior officials of the Departments concerned and representatives of coffee growers and farmers’ organization.
