Mangalore, Jan 20: Mangalorean Conrad Rachen D’Souza (27) of Dumbel House, Rachen Compound, Ashoknagar, son of Rufeena D’Souza and Sylvester D’Souza met with an accident in Doha, Qatar, over two years ago, just three months after he reached there to work at Space Trading Company in its crusher maintenance division.

He was injured in an accident involving a bull dozer and was under treatment at Ahmed Hospital. Rachan was urged to take bed rest for nearly 7 months before he could reach home.

On Thursday January 16, Kiran Pinto, divisional manager of J J Infra, a sister concern of Space Trading Co, handed over a compensation of Rs 15,02,320 in the form of a DD to Rachan in the presence of his parents at his residence.

It may be recalled that Conrad Rachen's family in Mangalore had called a press conference alleging that the company he worked for was not sending the Conrad back home and did not pay compensation either. But Gerry D'Mello, who is a popular Mangalorean entrepreneur, philanthropist and social activist, went out of his way to help Conrad and fought for him with the insurance company to get the suitable compensation, and also provided the best possible financial and moral support to Conrad from his company's end.

On Thursday, Conrad's family expressed regret over approaching the media, realising the humanity and humility of the entrepreneur. The family realised that Conrad's return from Doha was delayed for his own good and to get the suitable  compensation from the insurance company.

Speaking to Daijiworld, Rachen said, "I met with an accident in the third month after I reached Doha for work. The doctor asked me to take bed rest for 7 months as I had severe bladder tube injuries. My boss, colleagues, and other staff looked after me well during this time and they have also ensured that all the facilities and arrangements were provided for me. The company has spent approximately Rs 10 lac on me after the accident. Now, they have handed over a DD of Rs 15,02,320 and I am very grateful to the company. I regret if any inconvience was caused to Gerry D'Mello in my case."

Conrad's mother Rufeena D’Souza said, "Ever since my son came back to India, he has been undergoing treatment at Highlands Hospital. From 9 months the treatment is on and a tube has been put in for urine output as his urinary nerves have been damaged as per the doctor’s report. The company has helped us a lot in all respects and also in terms of financial aid. Today, we have received the DD and we are thankful to the company’s MD and its directors."

Community leaders in Doha and Mangalore hailed the sincere, selfless efforts of Gerry D'Mello in helping young Conrad in every possible way.

    I had visited the victim of the accident along with prominent members of the Mangalorean Community and knew Jerry was working behind the scene relentlessly to get all dues Conrad deserved and also assured the family to compensate in excess. God bless Jerry for his noble gesture pray for the recovery of Conrad as well.

    Besides this there are so many instances of his philanthropy here in Doha and back home as he is one person who believes and practices " In giving that we receive."

    Dear Editor, please try to publish this full article or comments as this story caused a lot of misunderstandings and pain in the Doha Community. Thank you so much. Antony Cony.
    =====
    To: Mr. Jerry D' Mello:-
    The best portion of a good man's life: his little, nameless unremembered acts of kindness and love to his fellow men.
    I am also a resident of Doha since 2.5 decades and I have always seen and heard about Mr. Jerry's good works to help everyone without any race, creed any conditions attached to it. I remember one of his close friend had told me that while Mr. Jerry was drawing a salary of Qrs. 2000/- in the past, he used to pray to God that " Oh Lord, now I am sharing with others whatever you gave to me, but if you give me more I will share more with unfortunate once." Seems God heard his Prayers, God kept His words and Mr. Jerry also kept his word sharing the God given wealth even now Rs. Millions per month in charity to churches, for hospitals, necessary advertisements, unemployed youths and mainly with unfortunate once because he realizes his past suffering days. These are the actual facts I am narrating here and it is not my Praising act on him, nor it is required. Thus, one can see in Mr. Jerry gospel words have come to pass. Luke 6:35 'Blessed are they who give without expecting in return". This is one of the main good qualities of a any good person, but have we come across such persons very often ??
    Mr. Jerry is a man of HEART and COURAGE. A man with a heart defers to us, respects our emotions, our feelings and our perspective. A man with a heart is not intimated by any intelligence, intuition and sensitivity he understands us and relies on us. A man with a heart respects and cares his parents, elders, his neighbors, to the needy and most importantly everyone who sees God in them.
    Mr. Jerry had shown his exemplary courage in the face of recent circumstances, challenges and misunderstandings caused a lot of distress and pain in his family. He did not quit or shrink, he did not run-out, and he did not give up or back down when things got rough he has courage. He had shown his faithfulness and courage to stay committed to relationships to help Conrad and his family. He fought all odds gracefully and God gave him victory among his own people and other media who had accused him without properly verify / analysing the actual facts without knowing the local company's contract laws, government rules on insurances etc.,. It does happen, but it is all okay now, nothing to worry about it.
    To: Conrad Rachen:-
    I understand your pain. Many a times I have put myself in your position. My word of encouragement to you is ....Even if your body isn't healthy, your soul overcomes that, it doesn't even care, it worships anyway, it's joyful anyway. That's what God wants to give you in the future a better life of healing to your body and soul. For God nothing is impossible. Dear Conrad Parents, Everyone understands you, you pain a
