Mangalore, Feb 2: The departments of Dermatology and Paediatrics of Father Muller Medical College in association with 'IADVL DERMACON' and IADVL Karnataka branch organized a CME on Paediatric Dermatology in the Conference hall of the Father Muller Medical College Hospital, here on Sunday, February 2.

The event was inaugurated by lighting the auspicious lamp by the chief guest Dr Deepak Parikh, president of IADVL in the presence of Dr Raghavendra Rao,  Fr Patrick Rodrigues, Fr Ravi Rudolph D’Sa, Dr J P Alva and others.

Speaking after the inauguration, Dr Deepak Parikh said "Paediatric Dermatology started in the year 1993. In the last five years, there have been numerous researches conducted on teh subject of Paediatric Dermatology. This subject is clinical in nature. It is indeed a binding of two subjects- Paediatric and Dermatology.

"Here, you don’t only treat the child, but also the parent’s anxiety. This is one subject which needs attention especially of young minds. This is a subject where a patient cannot give a history, but the doctor should understand by examining," he said.

In his presidential address,  Fr Patrick Rodrigues said "a child cannot express, but only experience the pain. The mother takes the initial steps, she is the one who understands, hence she must be given awareness as to how to address the problem. The Balawadi and Anganavadi teachers must also be made aware in this regards."

Delegates, students and participants were also present.
