Bhatkal, Feb 2:  Seven fishermen have been rescued after their fishing boat capsized near Nethrani Island in the Arabian Sea, 25 Km from Bhatkal.

Speaking to the media one of the fishermen related the incident stating that in the morning hours they had gone fishing near the Malpe sea and in the evening 7:30pm they saw a hole in boat as a result of which water began to enter into boat.

Even though they tried their best to cover the hole, water kept filling in, after which they decided and tried to make it to the shore of the Nethrani island visible nearby.

The boat, however, capsized before it could reach the shore. After swimming in the sea for about an hour they saw a boat named 'Austra Lakshmi' which helped to rescue them and took them aboard.

With the assistance of the boat they reached Kasargod Bunder.

The rescued team has been identified as Ishwar S Harikanth, Satish M Harikanth and Nagendra N Harikanth from Ankola, Pramod K Harikanth and Srinivas D Harikanth from Gokarna, Francis Fernandez from Sagar and Girish S Harikanth from Murdeshwar.

The incident report was filed at Murdeshwar police station. The fishermen lost all their belongings in the sea.
