M'lore: Unique competition held during 'Bunterna Gobbulu'

Mangalore, Feb 3: A unique competition, 'Drawing Water from Well' attracted many curious spectators during ‘Bunterna Gobbulu’, a competition of traditional sports organized by Bunts Sangha, Bajpe on Sunday February 2.

Men, women and children from 18 villages coming under Bajpe unit of Bunts Sangha took part in 21 games which were held at Sunkadakatte Niranjan Swamy Pre-University College grounds.

Sri Rajashekarananda Swamiji of Gurupur Vajradehi Math inaugurated the sports mela and Ajith Rai Malady, president of Buntara Mathr Sangha presided.

Former international athlete Sridhar Alva, midwife Sundari Shetty and nati vaidya (traditional healer) Laxmi Shetty were felicitated for their service to society.

Vijaynath Vittal Shetty, president of Bunts Sangha, Bajpe was present on the occasion.
