Kutch to Kochi girls' cycle expedition arrives in Mangalore

Mangalore, Feb 5:  A team of 14 girls  as a part of the Women Adventurers Network Of India [WANI] are on a cycle expedition from Kutch To Kochi, which is an approximate distance of 2500kms.

They started their journey from Kutch on January 5 and will reach Kochi on  February 7.

Traversing nearly 70 to 80 kms per day. Their aim is to promote green,clean and healthy India. To encourage the younger generation of women to higher levels of achievement. They address schools and colleges of women when they cross them.

As they reached Mangalore ,they were joined by the 25  skating girls at Kadri Hills,representing the Mangalore Roller Skating Association[MRSA] headed by Mahesh Kumar, commander Ramachandra  and  Jeeth Roche helped coordinate the meet.

School of Social Work 'Roshini Nilaya' headed by the exuberant Sr Evelyn Benis hosted the WANI [Women Adventurers Network Of India]  members Cycle Expedition. ,WANI member  Vasumathi Srinivasan, Bangalore, LIMCA Record for  for mother and daughter team to climb a mountain Peak. Smitha Srinivasan [daughter of Vasumathi]Bangalore  Premilla Shetty, Bangalore, is from Moodabidri. She was one among the fourteen girls. She is a kick boxer, adventurer,marathon runner  and cyclist.

The expedition was received at Fr Mullers by MSW ,post graduate students of Roshini Nilaya and nursing students of Fr Muller Hospital.There was an Go Green Awareness Walk  from Fr Mullers Hospital, Kankanady To Roshini Nilaya, School of Social Work,Valencia.

J R Lobo, MLA, Mangalore South; Anathakrishna, chairman Karnataka Bank; Murthy, deputy director, NMPT; Jerardin Dsouza, managing Trustee,Spandhana We Care Charitable Trust  and Sr Evelyn Benis, Roshini Nilaya inaugurated and began the walk

 Saplings were handed over to the guests  to create green awareness, plants were planted at 'Roshini Nilaya' Campus.

The WANI Expedition of Cyclists were welcomed by a traditional local Dance by the Roshini Students.

Dr Olinda Periera, the founder of 'Roshini Nilaya' presided over the function. She expressed great happiness over the Go Green girls daring expedition.

“The news nowadays is not very encouraging for women, but,when I see these adventurous and nationalistic girls from all over india, my heart swells with pride'' said Dr Olinda Periera.

 Murthy, was all praise for the Go Green Girls,'' NMPT has been awarded the best green port in the whole country, in fact whole of panambur has been made green. by planting trees and involving all the citizens"" said Murthy.

Ananthmurthy said that nature and women are inseparable, he compared women to ''Prakruthi'' as said in the Bhagvadh Gita.

Jerardin Dsouza asked the students of Roshini Nilaya to take encouragement from these daring Women .of Go Green Girls  and start something immediately.  He called the Go Green Girls 'The Super Stars' and asked the Roshini students to take inspiration from such brave hearts.

“Mere talking and Walking Wont do, start by immediate action,'' said  Dsouza.

 Taking a cue from Jerardin Dsouza, the physical director Rayappan decided to start a ''cycling club" in Roshini Nilaya.

There was a very lively interactive session at the auditorium. Questions ranging from, the cost of traveling, parental permission  and security of cycling without security were answered very positively. The ‘Go Green Girls Walk and Talk’ spread a sense of positive and self belief attitude among the assembled.

    An Inspirational Expedition...''Kutch To Kochi' ,by GO GREEN GIRLS, was a path breaking adventure.Our Mangalore GIRLS ,should take inspiration from these Brave Hearts. Ms. Rayappan ,has already taken the Lead & is Starting A CYCLING CLUB' & An ADVENTURE CLUB' both to enhance the Spirit of Women & increase their Confidence To Face Life. Women need to Stand Up & Be Counted. Its The Student Days That Provide The Dare & Energy. Once Started ,it will be there for a Lifetime..,COME >>>JOIN>>BE THERE>>!!! IT MATTERS.....BE INSPIRED..!!!
