M'lore: Bearys Welfare Assn honours meritorious students

Mangalore, Feb 11: Bearys welfare Association celebrated Eid-Milan, on February 9 with gaiety and also distributed merit awards to the students of the community who came with flying colors in their academic career.

Inaugurating the function Baragur Ramachandrappa, noted literate called upon the community to encourage education among its members who according to many reports are lagging behind in the field of literacy and therefore facing social backwardness.

Baragur cautioned against the divisive forces who detract and deviate from the main issues faced by the nation so as to give importance to fundamentalist idealogy under the guise of one nation, one language and one religion. 

He emphasized that if at all the country has to survive, it should be with divergent religions ,cultures and languages. Unity in diversity is the only success mantra for this great nation. 

"There  is scarcity to see the personalities like Bharatha who ruled the country in the absence of Lord Rama without even aspiring to assume power. Shabari did not construct  a temple to worship Rama and Lord Rama was always present in his hearts. We have deviated from this golden principle only to invite disaster unto us. It is these forces who create division amongst the people of our country and have neglected the burning issues such as poverty, illiteracy and backwardness  among the masses in order to create vote banks for the fulfillment  of their selfish needs.The very same forces have made many patriotics like Tippu Sultan and others as enemies of our country only to create devide among the people of this country. He also pointed out that these divisive forces are the real enemies of our country," he said.

Baragur lauded B M Farookh, president BWA and its members for taking steps in the right direction of imparting education to the masses especially amongst the backward communities.

Speaking on the occasion  Abdulla Al-Shaharni, business icon from Saudi Arabia congratulated the organizersof the function. Rizwan Arshad the president of Youth Congress wondered whether anyone can suggest a single language or a single religion or a single culture to be adopted by everyone of this country, which has a rich heritage of co-existance with all its religions,  languages and cultures.

Earlier B M Farookh,  president of BWA welcomed the gathering and presented a short description of how BWA had to fight against all odds to get itself the present ranking in the society. He pointed out that with the earnest efforts of BWA, the community reaped benefits in the field of education and most of the youth are very competitive and securing higher percentage of marks in contrast to the  backwardness prevailed earlier among the members of the community.

Many members of the community have even grown to become educationist and are eatablishing educational institution in order to enhance the standard of the people who lag behind in the field of education. The Association is also coming up with a cultural centre and amity house called ”Beary Souhartha Bhavana” in Bangalore in the shortly.

The function witnessed speeches delivered by Moulana Azeez Dharmi, who called upon the people to contribute in the field of education for it is the recourse shown by Propet Mohammed  (PBUH) and as enshrined in the dictom  of holy Quran. Nisar Ahmed , a doyen in the field of education and also the chairman of Presidency group of institutes was honoured in the function by bestowing upon him the award of “Beary of the year”. 

B M Hanief, sub-editor of Prajavani,  was felicitated in the function on his securing “Karnataka Madhyama Academy Award”.

 There was acultural program organized by the students of the Beary community and food was also served.

 Many distinguished personalities and degniteries such as  B  A Moideen,  the former Education Minister, A B Abdul Khader Haji the general secretary of Malabar Muslim Association, vice president of BWA Siddhique Beary, T K Umar,  G A Bava (Secretary KPCC), advocate P Usman, S S A Khader Haji chairman of Khykha foundation, Iqbal Ahmed chairman Little Flower School attended the function.

The function concluded with the vote of thanks by T K Sharief, general secretary of BWA .

    Excellent function with comprising with guests from all religions for Eid-Milan, hats off to the president, Mr.B.M.Farookh and Team. Appreciate the effort put towards a good cause and admired to see the scores secured by the Beary Students, of which most of them were above 90% with the majority of girls coming on a flying colours.
