Bangalore: College Day held at St Anthony’s and Darshan College


Bangalore, Feb 12: "It is an extraordinary College Day Celebration because the very motto of the Capuchin Friars is the transformation of the rural youth specially the poor and the marginalized," expressed corporator Rajanna.

"It is a noble mission because preparing the rural youth to excel as future Global Leaders. St Anthony’s and  Darshan College is in no way less than the decades’ old prestigious colleges of the city," he added.

As an appreciation  Somashekar Gowda, the local MLA said, “Today the College stands at a pivotal point of the presence of the Capuchins in Kengeri Region as it gives opportunities and possibilities to the rural youth to aspire and to excel in life.”

"In a world where education is commercialized and the result-based education is sought after, but indeed it is a blessing to every youth who enters this college because here the youth is imparted with the value based, wholistic, person-oriented education that which transforms the youth to be a true and credible global leader," said Dr A K Mishra, dean from Mizoram University.

“The presence of the Capuchin Friars in the field of Education is nothing but an actualization of the words of St Francis of Assisi who often proclaimed ‘in giving we receive’,” said Daniel Helbert, the president of “Ensemble Agissons” in collaboration with Vimukti Potnal.

The president of the celebration, the Provincial Minister of the Capuchins of Karnataka exhorted that it is determination, dedication and discipline which transforms a qualified person into an educated person. In the process of growing and excelling let us not forget “Devaru, Guru and Shastra” “God, Teacher and the Teaching” admonished Fr Dolphy Pais. The commitment of the Capuchins towards the rural youth will continue and the light of St Anthony’s Institutions will shine with a Global Vision and a Noble Mission, all for the Glory of God.
