Mumbai, May 24: Police on Monday night resorted to cane charge to disperse irate audience who tried to disrupt a stage show by item girl Rakhi Sawant, at Nanded in Maharashtra.
Trouble started after about an hour of the commencement of the show when some members of the audience, who did not carry valid passes, barged into the venue at Navamondha area of Nanded and tried to occupy the seats reserved for VIPs and other dignitaries, an eyewitness said from Nanded.
Chairs and other articles were thrown at the stage and police ordered the organisers to stop the show mid-way.
A case was registered against Sawant in Kolhapur on May 18, for obscene costumes and gestures.
