Chennai, Oct 26: Actor Dhanush on Sunday met members of the women’s wing of his restructured fan club at a private college in Chennai, posing for photographs with hundreds of supporters and gifting each of them a silver ‘Kamatchi’ lamp.
The meeting comes after Dhanush reorganised his fan network, formerly known as Dhanush Narpani Mandram, into a welfare movement called ‘Dhanush Narpani Iyakkam’. The move, along with the introduction of a new official logo, has triggered speculation in Tamil Nadu about a possible political entry, although the actor has made no official announcement regarding his political ambitions.
Women fans from several districts, including Coimbatore and Ranipet, attended the event despite heavy rain. During the interaction, Dhanush patiently posed for photographs with the supporters and presented each of them with a silver lamp as a return gift.

“I came from Porur and had been waiting since 9 am. He patiently took photos with everyone. When I asked, he immediately hugged me. The lamp he gifted will remain a great memory,” a fan told PTI Videos.
Rajeswari, who travelled from Coimbatore, said she was overwhelmed by the gesture. “I cried out of happiness. He gave us a lamp as a gift, which was very surprising,” she said.
Rajarajeswari from Thanjavur said the actor welcomed the fans warmly, asking them how they were and inviting them inside. Vijayasree from Ranipet said the supporters had waited for a long time and were delighted to receive the actor’s blessings during the photo session.
While most fans expressed happiness over the meeting, some felt that Dhanush spent only a short time on stage. Janani from Mandaveli in Chennai said she was disappointed that she could not properly hear him sing. However, she added that the actor hugged her and told her “love you”, while the return gift came as a surprise.
When reporters asked Dhanush about the fan meet and speculation surrounding his possible political entry, the actor extended Diwali greetings and said he was “very happy”. He then left in his car without responding to further questions.
