Fog disrupts flights, train services in Delhi

New Delhi, Feb 24 (IANS): Heavy fog in the national capital early Monday morning affected flights and rail services, while the minimum temperature was recorded a notch below average at 10 degrees Celsius. The Met Office forecast a cloudy day ahead.

The fog disrupted flight operations due to poor visibility, Kapil Sabarwal, spokesperson Indira Gandhi International airport (IGI) told IANS.

Two flights from Delhi en-route Amritsar and Lucknow were recalled midway owing to bad weather at both the destinations, he said.

An Oman Air flight operating on Muscat-Lucknow sector was diverted to Delhi due to foggy conditions in Lucknow.

"The day will become cloudy towards the afternoon," said an India Meteorological Department official.

The fog also delayed 14 trains.

Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 97 percent.

Monday's maximum temperature is likely to hover around 23 degrees Celsius.

Sunday's maximum temperature settled at 22 degrees Celsius, three notches above the season's average, while the minimum temperature was a notch above the season's average at 12 degrees Celsius.
