New Delhi, Jun 6: Rahul Mahajan, son of late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan, was arrested under the Narcotics Act, police sources said.

Rahul has been booked under the Narcotics and Psychotrophic Substances Act (NDPS) Act on the charge of sale and purchase, consumption and sources of drug, the sources said.

"We have sufficient evidence and that is why we have arrested Rahul Mahajan," Additional Deputy Commissioner of Delhi Police Manish Agrawal told reporters outside Apollo Hospital.

"We are seeking the opinion of doctors to have Rahul discharged. Prima facie charges against him are drug consumption, destruction of evidence and use of premises under NDPS Act," he said.

"We have enough witnesses and statements to prove that Rahul had taken drugs on Thursday night" at his residence, Agrawal said.
