Mangalore, Jul 1: The State Beedi Workers' Federation organized a convention of beedi workers at Town Hall here on Friday June 30.
Speaking on the occasion, state AITUC president M C Narasimhan accused the state and the central government of ignoring the needs of the beedi workers. He also demanded a stay from the Supreme Court with regard to the minimum wage, which the state and centre have failed to implement.
Among those present at the convention were former MLA B V Kakkilaya, state AITUC general secretary H V Ananth Subbarao and Beedi Workers' Federation general secretary B Vishwanath Naik.
