Mangalore: Lorry hits bike, pillion rider dies on spot

Mangalore, May 23: A cook travelling as a pillion rider, died on the spot when a lorry hit the bike at Kodangallu near Moodbidri on
Thursday May 22.

The deceased is identified as Ravi Nayak(34), a resident of Kodyadka. Being a labourer by profession, occasionally he would go to work as a cook with Jinendra Jain, a reisdent of Aliyur. He was on his way at 5 am on Thursday to cook at a house warming ceremony at Gantalkatte.

Jinendra Jain (22) was riding the bike while Ravi was the pillion rider. Meanwhile a lorry transporting borewell pipes coming from the
opposite direction, took a wrong turn to the right without giving any
signal; the bike thus lost control and hit the lorry.

While Ravi Nayak died on the spot due to serious injuries, Jinendra was injured and is being treated at Alva's hospital. Ravi has left behind two children.

The Moodbidri police have registered a case and have begun investigations against lorry driver Kandippan who hails from Tamilnadu.
