Udupi, Jun 6: The Karnataka Lokayukta organized a grievance meet with public on Thursday June 5 at the townhall. Justice Subas B Adi, the honorary deputy Lokayukta - II reviewed the complaints.
Addressing the media he said that 74 cases had been registered, out of which 43 cases were from Udupi,10 from Karkala and 21 from Kundapur. He added that he received 31 fresh applications on the spot.
He said that more than 100 cases regarding public grievances were settled; most of the grievances involved land measurements, constructions, unauthorised and illegal encroachments.
He added that some of the complaints were related to the issues concerning the panchayath bodies.
"CMC and public must ensure the records are correct before the procurement of any land," he said.
He said that he would resolve the problems and warned the authorities to complete the works on time.
He also said that notices were served on 243 complainants of which 227 notices were attended.
“Most of the grievances we heard were related to the complaintants only. Out of 100, we have addressed the grievances of the complainants except a few,” he said.
He added that he received 15000 applications, out of which he resolved 10000 cases.
Niranjan, a geologist and the mining authority said that the stone quarries and sand mining were banned.
Sanjeev Shetty and Shridar Shetty, the residents of Shivapura village, Karkala Taluk complained about the roads.
Geetha, the principal of the government PU college Polipu, Kaup said that there was no non-teaching staff in her college. Justice Subas ordered S S Shinde, the education authority, to fulfil the basic requirements of the college at the soonest.
