Chamarajanagar, Jul 11: In an incident which occurred at Siddayyanapura village in the taluk on Thursday July 10, a lady jumped into a canal along with her three children, having been fed up by continuing family quarrels.  While the woman and her two sons died, her daughter was rescued by villagers later.

Rajamma (35), wife of Govindaraju, jumped into the canal along with sons, Jeevan (6) and Pramod (4), and Jayashree (8).

It is said that Govindaraju, who was disappointed at the fact that his wife, Laxmi, did not bear any children for some years, married Rajamma from the same village. Rajamma gave birth to three children in course of time.

On Wednesday night the couple fought over some issue. On Thursday morning, Rajamma left home towards the Chikkahole canal of Suvarnavathi river along with her children. Sometime later, her husband, Govindaraju, found out that his wife and children had gone missing. He launched a search with the help of neighbours. They found Jayashree, who was oscillating between life and death, inside the canal, and rescued her.
