Mangalore, Aug 6: Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd. delivered its first batch of petroleum products shipment to Mauritius on Saturday.
The consignment consisting 4000 tons of Motor Spirit (95 Octane), 10000 tons of Jet Fuel (ATF) and 19000 tons of Gas oil (Diesel), is the first parcel as per the supply contract between MRPL and State Trading Corporation of Mauritius.

In a small function held at New Mangalore Port, aboard Mt. Sanmar Symphony, the vessel on which the products are loaded, MRPL managing director Rajamani handed over the citation commemorating the first consignment and the quality certificates of the products to State Trading Corporation of Mauritius general manager R S Soomarooah in presence of audience comprising officials of MRPL, New Mangalore Port Trust, oil companies and Excise, Customs and Explosive Departments along with delegates including media personnel from Mauritius.
Rajamani, while reiterating MRPL’s commitment to supply of the products to Mauritius as per the agreed quality and on time, mentioned about MRPL’s capacity to produce different grades of products to suit specific customer needs.
Soomarooah expressed high sense of satisfaction in the deal and hoped for smooth execution of the contract. The delegates from Mauritius, who had visited MRPL process facilities and quality assessment laboratory, expressed their confidence in MRPL’s capabilities and the quality of products.
MRPL has been exporting its products for the last six years through various traders. However, this is the first time a trade contract has been negotiated with a refinery and Mauritius STC direct, the government agency to import petroleum into the island nation.
The products, according to the supply agreement are 350 TMT of HSD, 260 TMT of Jet fuel, 90 TMT of Motor Gasoline, 330 TMT of three grades of Fuel Oil. This quantity meets the entire white oil and FO demand of Mauritius for one year.
