Yakshagana artistes felicitated in Thane

Mumbai, July 15: Yaksha Saurabha Pravasi Mela, popular Yakshagana group convened by Mohammed Gouse Kavradi had conducted Yakshagana programmes while traveling in the city during the last four years had conducted a programme in Kishan Nagar Thane west on Saturday, July 12, setting in motion their Mumbai tour for this year.

Billawara Association Thane local committee executive president Ashok M Kotian presided over the programme. Popular businessmen from Thane, Shanker Poojary, Maratha Suresh Shetty, Sridhar Kody, Ananda Kumar Shetty, Sadananda Anchan, Vasu Poojary, Kala Poshak organizer Raj Mendon and others were present.


Senior artiste Balkooru Krishnayaji, Manki Ishwara Naika and group convener Mohammed Ghouse were felicitated with a honorarium on behalf of the organizers. Cash from the welfare fund meant for all the artistes in the group was handed over to the group leader Bhagavatha Heranjalu Gopala Ganiga.

Programme organizers Nagaraja Appedi Heranjalu, L B Bangera Uppooru, Prabhakar Bhandary, Sadananda Anchan and A Poojary Kodi who have always cooperated for their Mumbai tour were honored by the chief guests.

Organizers of the programme, Nagaraja Appedi Heranjalu, Vishwanatha Poojary Kodi, L B Bangera Uppoora, Sadananda Anchan and Gopala Poojary presented bouquets to the guests and felicitated them.

Arts organizer professor Venkatesh Pai compeered the programme and proposed the vote of thanks.
