Mangalore: Lions Club installation ceremony held

Mangalore, Jul 16: The president and office bearers of The Lions Club, Mangalore– Balmatta, (District 317 D, Region V, Zone – 1)  for the term 2014-15 were installed at a grand ceremony held at the Lions Seva Mandir, Kadri here Friday July 11.

Ln M Kavitha S Shastri M J F, the first Vice District Governor (Elect) Dist 317 D, was the chief guest. After installing Ln Juliet Mascarenhas and her team as president and office bearers of the club respectively, she congratulated the new team and wished them well, appreciating the work put in by the out going team.


Ln M Kavitha addressing the gathering said, "The previous office bearers have done a very beautiful job. This time the president is a woman and when a woman moves forward, the whole nation moves forward. Women are educated, women make big differences in the society. If you have love in your heart, compassion, kindness and honesty will be with you."

The new team includes Ln Juliet Mascarenhas as the president, Ln Irene Sequeira as secretary and Ln Jovita Noronha as treasurer.

Ln Juliet Mascarenhas, accepting the presidency thanked the members for reposing their faith in her and her team and promised to raise the name of the club to greater heights.

"I will serve the club with confidence and would like to strengthen the club through leading it to higher positions. It is my wish to invite more youth and quality members," she added.

The out going president, Ln Denis Rodrigues, spoke of the highlights and experiences of his term as president and wished the new team a fruitful and successful year ahead.

The outgoing secretary Ln Thomas Castelino had earlier welcomed the gathering.
