Ganiga Samaja Mumbai celebrates eighteenth anniversary

Mumbai, July 18: "We have united and nourished the Ganiga Sangha though there were impediments and neglect by some. We have bought a place with your cooperation and identified our own premises. Let us thrive together in the task of uniting the association," said Jagannatha Ganiga, president of Ganiga Samaja, Mumbai.

He was addressing the gathering after presiding over a general body meeting held to celebrate the eighteenth anniversary of Ganiga Samaja at Santacruz Pejavar Mutt on Sunday July 13.


Secretary B V Rao read the report of the previous year, presented the income and expenditure account and got approval of the meeting. It was decided to hold the inauguration ceremony of the new office on January 24 and 25 next year. A discussion was held regarding the estimated cost likely to be incurred for furniture, computers and the inauguration programme. Thane Ratnakar Shetty, a member said that every household should contribute between Rs 500 to Rs 1,000 and assured to pay the deficit.

B V Rao suggested that everyone should work to celebrate the inauguration programme of the new office. The former secretary Shanker H will work as the convener for the programme.

Secretary B V Rao put forth the motion of electing the new executive committee. U Balakrishna Rao suggested for continuation of existing committee as responsibilities of sports festival and inauguration of new office have to be shouldered. The meeting unanimously accepted the suggestion and approved the continuation of existing internal and external auditors.

Vice president Kutpadi Ramachandra Ganiga in his speech said, "We can achieve anything if we work in unity. We have achieved our dream of owning an office with all our cooperation. The youth in the association should work actively in order to utilize the resources. We have come here for the society. It is regretful that some of us have remained at home saying that they have no time. We have to bring all of them for our next meeting so that the hall will be full."

U Balachandra Katpadi mentioned the acquaintance of Pejavar Shree and said that everyone should receive the blessings of Pejavar Shree when he comes to Mumbai for Chaturmasa. Vidyodhaya committee president Vijayendra Ganiga said that the committee works hard. Tara Bhatkal Mamatha Devendra Rao spoke during the occasion.

Hospital Services Private Limited owner Y Baburao presented Rs 1 lac cash to the president as contribution. Sadananda Kalyanpur and
Venkatesh Balkebail handed over their contribution too. U Balachandra Katpadi presented Rs 5,000 on the occasion of his son's wedding.

Important people present on the dais lit the lamp and B V Rao set the programme in motion. Shanker welcomed the gathering while treasurer Chandrashekar Ganiga proposed the vote of thanks.

Nagarathna Jagannatha Ganiga, Suguna Ramachandra Ganiga, Shubha Katpadi and Suma Katpadi conducted the yellow vermilion. Ganesh Katpadi, Rajesh Kutpadi and Vijaya Jagannatha Ganiga helped in the programme.
