Udupi: 'Service of mentally ill is true devotion of god'

Udupi, July 19: The service at the 'Vishwasada Mane' in Shankerapura to brings mental retards and innocent destitutes deserted by their families and society, who did not know their parents, clean them, conduct health check ups and look after them as their own, enabling them to live in the society like others. This is real devotion to the Almighty," said B Pundalik Marathe Shirva, Rotary district
instructor and former assistant governor.

Marathe was speaking as the chief guest in a friendly gathering programme held at 'Vishwasada Mane,' a ray of hope for the mentally
sick and destitute children on Wednesday July 16.


He said that the gesture of the immediate past president JCI Rakesh Kunjoor celebrating his birthday by modestly donating clothing and meals among more than 160 feeble orphan and mentally ill students is a unique service to the Almighty and is an example to others.

Chief guests, JCI zonal director Ratnakar Indrali and zonal official Sandeep Kumar conveyed their best wishes. JCI zonal officers Saumya
Rakesh, headmistress Sharavati Rao, journalist Rakesh Kunjoor and Jaycerette president Saumya were on the dais.

Vishwasada Mane managing director Sunil John D'Souza said that their group is involved in the work with divine inspiration and they are content with the service. He said that like-minded service groups having joined hands with them has also inspired them.

JCI president Anil Kumar presided over the programme. JCI former president and xilla panchayat member Arun Shetty compeered the
programme. Secretary Sandeep Shetty proposed the vote of thanks.

Sudhakar Salian, Pravin Gurme and Jagadish Achar were present on the ocassion.

    I too celebrated my birthday with the inmates there while I was on vacation.
