Nagaland Governor to be felicitated by BJP in Mangalore

Mangalore, Jul 25: Sri Padmanabha Acharya Nagarika Sanmana Samithi will felicitate recently appointed honourable Governor of Nagaland, Padmanabha Acharya and his wife Kavitha Acharya here on Monday July 28 at 5 PM in Sangha Nikethana hall, Pratapanagar.

Addressing the media Pratap Simha Nayak, BJP district president said, "The newly appointed Governor Padmanabha Acharya is basically from Udupi and we are very proud of him; a committee has been set up to felicitate Acharya on Monday July 28. Vinay Hegde, chancellor of Nitte University will preside over the ceremony. This committee is formed under honourary president Padmanabha Pai, Canara Engineering College as the convener and MP Nalin Kumar Kateel."


Padmanabha Balakrishna Acharya was sworn in as the 19th Governor of Nagaland. President Pranab Mukherjee on July 14 had appointed Acharya as the Governor, with the additional charge of Tripura.

Padmanabha Acharya, a native of Udupi was born on October 8, 1931. He completed his primary and secondary education in Udupi and higher education in Mumbai. He served as the founder member and president of ABVP and national secretary of the BJP unit in North Eastern States.

Bharath Shetty, M Padmanabh Pai and others were also present during the press meet.
