Mangalore: Thieves decamp with 16 batteries, loss put at Rs 1.5 lac

Mangalore, Jul 26: Thieves broke into a shop at Marnamikatte on the night of Friday July 25. 

The theft was reported at Shanmuka Battery Works, a shop belonging to Ganesh.


It is said that Ganesh, on Friday night went home after locking the shop. The incident came to light when the shop boy Manoj came to open the shop on Saturday July 26 morning. The thieves were successful in entering the shop from the back door after hollowing the wooden door and removing the latch.

It is also said that thieves carried away 15 batteries that had come for servicing and one new battery; a total of Rs 1.5 lac loss has been estimated. 

Three batteries were left outside the shop as the thieves were not able to carry all of them.
  
A complaint has been registered in the Pandeshwar police station.
