Ekta, Ruchira to pay tribute to traditional embroidery at LFW

New Delhi, Aug 11 (IANS): Designers Ekta Jaipuria and Ruchira Kandhari, know for their brand Ekru, will underline the Indian embroidery and textile when they showcase their collection at the forthcoming edition of Lakme Fashion Week winter-festive 2014.

Their brand specialise in giving a contemporary makeover to the tradition artwork.

"The collection includes a lot of heavy hand embroideries with occasional usage of machine embroidery. The inspiration for the line is heavily drawn from our rich cultural heritage," said the designers in a joint statement.

"The thread, ari and zardosi work imparts richness to our collection. The silhouettes used are a mixture of traditional outfits like anarkalis, tunics, straight kurta sets and drape garments to suit the needs of one and all which become a part of heirloom."

The designers, who made their ramp debut with LFW autumn-winter edition in 2007, has worked their way through several editions at Wills Life Style India Fashion Week.
