Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 5: Facing allegations of misbehaviour towards a woman passenger on an aircraft, Kerala Public Works Minister P J Joseph on Monday resigned from the LDF Ministry after the preliminary probe by a senior police officer finding that the woman's charge could not ruled out.
A senior politician and the lone Kerala Congress nominee in the cabinet, Joseph handed over his resignation to Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan after a meeting of his party leaders in Thiruvananthapuram.
Climbing down from his earlier position that he would not quit, Joseph reconciled to his fate, apparently under pressure from the Chief Minister and senior LDF leaders.
While expressing dissatisfaction at the inquiry, Joseph said he was resigning as he did not want to be in a controversy and mar his image as well as that of the LDF.
