Ujjain, Sep 15: The CID has sought custody of four more ABVP leaders in connection with the death of Prof H S Sabharwal during student violence, even as two ABVP leaders are already in judicial custody on the murder charge.

"The ABVP leaders were identified on the basis of eye witness account and video clipping of the violence after postponement of students union elections at Madhav College on August 26'', a senior police official said on
Wednesday.

State ABVP President Shashi Ranjan Singh Akela and its Organising Secretary Vimal Tomar were remanded to judicial custody after the probe into the Professor's death was handed over to the CID. Both would be produced before Judicial Magistrate R S Madiya tomorrow.

Police sources said the arrest of 4 ABVP leaders - Hemant Dube, Vishal Rajoria, Sudhir Yadav and Pankay Mishra - was imminent as they were wanted for interrogation.

The sources said Hemant Dube and Sudhir Yadav were earlier arrested on the charge of rioting, but were released on bail.

So far, a total of 37 people, including 9 of ABVP and 28 of Congress and NSUI, were arrested in connection with rioting and Prof Sabharwal's death.

Prof Sabharwal was hacked to death and another professor M L Nath's face blackened by the students after postponement of elections, boycotted by NSUI demanding direct elections. Only 5 nominations, all from ABVP, were received for 45 posts leading to postponement of students union elections.
