New Delhi, Sep 4 (IANS): A Hindu group Thursday burnt Pakistan's flag here to show its displeasure over an upcoming Pakistani lifestyle exhibition and demanded its cancellation.

The protesters, belonging to the Rashtrawadi Shiv Sena, gathered at Pragati Maidan and requested the government and event organisers to cancel the four-day "Alishan Pakistan" exhibition keeping in mind "continuous ceasefire violations" by Pakistan at the border areas in Jammu and Kashmir.

"They are killing our soldiers at the border and violating ceasefire. Why are we holding this exhibition and selling their goods in times like this," party president Jai Bhagwan Goyal told IANS.

"We have urged the government not to hold this exhibition," he added.

Goyal also said their party workers will "not allow this exhibition to be held."

"There are so many families in India today who have lost their sons fighting bravely with the Pakistani army and guarding our borders. This exhibition is a disrespect to them," he said.

"We will not allow this exhibition to be held at any cost. Our part workers are ready to protest against it," he added.

Earlier during the day, at least 25 protesters were detained by the police.

The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), in collaboration with the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan, is hosting the exhibition, where around 300 Pakistani entities are scheduled to showcase their products.
