Ranchi, Sep 15: The UPA on Wednesday unanimously elected Madhu Koda, an Independent MLA, to be the new Chief Minister of Jharkhand replacing Arjun Munda who resigned earlier morning without facing a trial of strength in the Assembly.
Koda became an unanimous choice, Noor Banu (Cong), in-charge of Jharkhand told UNI and added that they would go to the Raj Bhavan to stake claim to form the alternative government.
Immediately after Munda tendered resignation to Governor Syed Sibtey Razi, the UPA embarked on parleys that referred the selection of its leader to chairperson Sonia Gandhi.
However, Gandhi asked the state level leaders to take a final decision.
